Joel Alcedo

Vice president, applied economics

Joel serves as vice president of the Mastercard Economics Institute, responsible for managing thematic research and partnerships. In this capacity, he works with key stakeholders inside and outside the Mastercard organization to advance the field of empirical economics through data-driven approaches.

Prior to Mastercard, Joel worked as a data scientist at BNP Paribas focused on US economics and cross-asset market strategy. Past experiences span across the commercial aerospace, automotive and financial services industries, with roles at Virgin Galactic, Porsche and Cantor Fitzgerald, respectively. Joel studied economics at the University of San Francisco and Georgia State University.
