New York City Tourism + Conventions wanted to drive traffic and increase spend during New York City’s restaurant week, particularly for small businesses impacted by Covid.
The organization worked with Mastercard to launch the Restaurant Week to Go campaign focused on takeout and delivery options to encourage safe, contactless spend. Customers who enrolled were offered a statement credit of $10 with every $20.21 transaction, up to $100, when ordering from participating restaurants. Mastercard also worked with local delivery services to waive their fees for over 40 participating restaurants. Through its partnership with Mastercard, New York City Tourism + Conventions boosted total card enrollments to nearly 40K, a 74% increase year-over-year. They also measured $2.8 million in trackable spending at restaurants on registered Mastercards, a 59% lift. The promotions campaign ultimately drove long-term customer engagement and loyalty, with three in four customers planning to participate in the next restaurant week.
