2024 is set to be a booming year for the travel sector, according to the Mastercard Economics Institute.
Despite fluctuating exchange rates, the impact of climate change and varying levels of affordability, the desire to travel remains stronger than ever. A new report from the Mastercard Economics Institute shows that the travel industry is well positioned, with expected real disposable income growing globally above 1% and consumers prioritizing meaningful experiences over material goods.
This will result in significant increases in passenger traffic and people extending their trips, driven by affordable destinations and warmer climates.
Join this Mastercard Economics Institute webinar to hear Mastercard's Chief Economist Michelle Meyer, Chief Economist for Europe Natalia Lechmanova and EVP & Chief Commercial Officer at SAS - Scandinavian Airlines, Paul Verhagen discuss global travel trends expected to play out in 2024, including:
- A record number of travelers and a surge in travel sector spending
- Leisure for longer, with tourists worldwide averaging an extra day on vacation
